Last Weekend I ventured to the woods of Foxboro to see the "Mecca" of horror, Spooky World. Now I am Love Halloween and the whole Horror Genre, so I can never wait each year to go to Haunted Houses and watch Horror movies. It was only the second night Spooky World had been open for the season and as always it was raining when I went (adds a little atmosphere). After arriving and buying tickets I was met with the same anticipation as every year, just cant wait to get inside and start having some fun. Once we walked through the gates we were greeted by a seven-foot grim reaper, who would make you get out of his way. From here you can see down the haunted midway where all the food vendors are and the carnivalesqe games. As we walked around we saw some of the interesting games of spooky world, like instead of the ring toss it was the body-part toss. One of the amusements there is called “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes” and you get to hurl tomatoes at the worker, a little cheesy but still cool.
We decided to go on the Reapers Hayride first since it is always a long wait. The hayride is about a 10 min ride with all kinds of creatures and people "popping" out at you. It will give most people a good scare but if you sit in the wrong place you could miss out on the action. The hayride has improved a little bit since last year, but for the most part it is almost identical. Elvira's Haunted House is very cool and will keep you on your feet, but I spent more time smiling and laughing then I did shuddering. The haunted house has some good design and cool ideas, which is one reason I enjoy coming back each year. The circus macabre is one you will want to stay away from if you do not like clowns because it is full of them, and bubbles. Take a look at the floors in this one for the live mice running around.
The Hellhouse Wax Museum has a lot of cool wax figures like Aleister Crowley and Bugsy Siegel along with some horrific works of art. This is followed up by the American Horror Museum, which is AWESOME if you are into horror memorabilia. In this museum there are the original masks from Friday the 13th, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and many more along with more possible memorabilia to go with the Horror genre than you could imagine. The coal miners Haunted Mine-Shaft is a trip into a mining excavation that is haunted by some dead miners. This attraction has some nice surprises in it that will keep you clinging to the person next to you. Just watch out for the dark caverns. And the final major attraction at spooky world is the Haunted 70’s Disco Club. This has always been a very cool, though not very scary attraction at spooky world. As you put on your 3-D glasses and walk through a club that is haunted by the ghosts of Jon Travels and people like that, creatures will come right out of the walls at you. When you reach the end before you enter the spinning tube just remember that all of this is on your head and your not actually moving.
